Annabeth Chase from Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson series (and Heroes of Olympus series). I’ve been rereading the books and find them more enjoyable to reread than Harry Potter. Maybe because they’re shorter and easier and faster-paced, or perhaps because I haven’t seen the movie several times (or at all), or maybe just because I like them more. Which is weird to think about, really, because Harry Potter had a huge impact on my life. Either way, Annabeth, the female lead, never seems to get as much recognition as a strong girl character as Hermione or Katniss, which is a shame. She’s as smart and strong as both of them and has her own ambitions and desires separate from the male protagonist. She makes mistakes, she feels emotions, she decides her own fate. And I’m not gonna lie, I’m a romantic, and I enjoy reading about budding romances and such. It’s no huge spoiler that Annabeth gets together with Percy, but I was surprised that their romance turned out to be one of the most natural and believable friendship-to-romance relationships I’ve ever read. I’m especially excited for Riordan’s next Heroes of Olympus book coming out this fall, which, judging by the title, will focus heavily on Annabeth. She deserves more recognition than she gets. Zoom

I hope this isn't over the top, but I just want to tell you how much I love your comic! Your art is atmospheric and inspiring, and your storytelling poetic and engrossing. You have created a full and textured world of epic scale, and each update pulls me into this world faster than you can say "Narnia." I can't wait to see where your marvellous characters end up next! Really, thank you so much for all the work you put into this. I am a huge fan!

Haven’t posted any sketches in a while, so have a doodle of Coal and his mom! Haven’t had much focus to do more than work on the comic when it comes to art. Have a good bit of writing to do before the month is out and it’s occupying my brain! Then I worry about what I have to get done, and it just grates on me and weighs me down. I think I’ll be going to the river house this weekend. Zoom
